Barzan Olympic Park was inaugurated on 29 April 2012 to be the first Olympic park in the state of Qatar. The newly opened park reflects the keenness of the state of Qatar to achieve ambitions of Qatari people to have more recreational facilities. This inauguration is an experimental stage for such a pioneering idea that aims to treat the shortage of recreational spaces especially outside the capital city of Doha. The park is located on the northern side of Doha in Umm Salal and boasts of its unique features that attract travelers here.
The park includes green areas, restaurants, kids zone, two football playgrounds, two tennis courts, basketball court, mosque, swimming pool, cycling track, fountains & walking lanes.
Although the Barzan Olympic Park seems small in size, visitors would be astonished to know there are, in fact, sporting facilities like a football ground or a tennis court are available at the park. Since Qatar is a country that lays immense emphasis on improving the sporting infrastructure for the talent coming through, the Barzan Olympic Park is another small step in that direction.
