Final draw for AFC Asian Cup 2023 to happen on May 11

In order to guarantee that the host nation begins the tournament with the first match planned on January 12, 2024, Qatar has been given the first spot in Pot 1 ahead of the draw to be held at the Katara Opera House.

The teams ranked from second to sixth in Asia in the most recent FIFA Ranking are Japan, who has won the tournament four times, the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has won it three times, Korea Republic, who has won it twice, and Australia and Saudi Arabia, who will be vying for their fourth continental title.

Pot 2 will include the two-time runners-up China PR, the 2019 hosts United Arab Emirates, Oman, 2011 semifinalist Uzbekistan, and 2007 champions Iraq.

In the meantime, Pot 3 will be occupied by Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Vietnam, Kyrgyz Republic, and Lebanon, while Pot 4 will be filled out by India, Tajikistan, which will be making its debut, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. The 24 teams will be divided into six groups of four teams each across Groups A to F, much like the expanded 2019 edition in the United Arab Emirates. The top two and four best third-placed teams will advance to the competition's final 16 teams before the Asian champions are announced on February 10, 2024.

As Draw Assistants, some of the most recognisable figures in Asian football are anticipated, together with the Head Coaches of the 24 participating teams.
