The IIAS-SEAPP Doha Conference 2023 on Developmental States and Professionalisation of Public Administration and Public Policy kicked off yesterday and will last for three days, under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khali bin Khalifa bin Abdullaziz Al Thani.

The conference, being co-organised by the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy (SEAPP) at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) and the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), includes about 300 participants from 70 countries, representing the most important regions of the north and south of the world.

The organisers raise important questions about the developmental capabilities of countries and their contributions to comprehensive development during the 21st century, exchange experiences and knowledge, and promote government action to address complex policy problems and constraints. President of the DI, Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Afandi, explained that the importance of this event is increasing due to the centrality of professionalism and the role of development in the theme of the conference. Especially since professionalism in management and administrative sciences is one of the most important pillars of the development process that neither money nor other resources can replace.
