Katara launches Fath Al Khair 5 cruise

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) launched the Fath Al Khair 5 cruise which will begin on July 4. The cruise will start from Malta and will go through ports in Italy, France and Spain.

This was announced in a press conference led by Katara General Manager, Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, along with Mohammed Yousef, Nokhuda Mahmal Fath Al Khair 5, among others.

The Fath Al Khair 5 trip comes as part of Katara’s efforts to introduce the authentic Qatari maritime heritage and promote the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, and within the framework of its strategy of documenting the relationship of generations to their glorious past through sea voyages that were at the heart of the lives of parents and grandparents and their source of livelihood in the era of pearl diving.

Dr. Al Sulaiti said: “The Fath Al Khair 5 journey revives and consolidates the Qatari marine heritage in the hearts of generations, through an inspiring marine epic, simulating the same conditions that characterized the voyages. The first men of Qatar, wading through it, the youth of Qatar today, with their young arms and solid determination, to write another wonderful story of courage and defiance, to be added to our immortal heritage, which will remain a pride for generations through all ages.” 

He explained that the cruise will sail from Malta on July 4, towards southern Italy, to cross the ports of Sicilia, Naples, Rome and Genoa, then head to the port of Monaco, Cannes, Cannes and Marseille, and conclude its journey with its arrival at the port of Barcelona in Spain. The trip takes about a month and a half, and ends in the middle of August.

The general manager added that the journey devoted its role in linking the young generations of Qatar with their ancient past and glorious maritime heritage, and deepened the cultural ties that link the Qatari people with brotherly and friendly peoples, and succeeded in building bridges of civilised and human communication, based on a huge balance of expertise and experience, which Katara gained in its management. 

He expressed hope that the Fath Al Khair 5 journey will continue its goal in reviving Qatari heritage, highlighting the greatness of the country’s past, and introducing the ancient Qatari heritage, in addition to promoting the World Cup 2022.

He added that the cruise took all means and measures related to security and safety requirements on the surface of the loader, in addition to finalising all arrangements and coordination with the maritime authorities in European ports located in the path of the Fath Al Khair 5.

The cruise programme also includes receiving visitors when it stops at European ports within a specific mechanism that guarantees the best results in promoting the World Cup Qatar 2022. Brochures will be handed out to the the public in all ports where the loader is anchored, in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.
