The fourth Katara Oud Festival, which will feature a variety of professional composers from around the world, is scheduled to begin on Wednesday and run through January 25 by the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara).
The occasion highlights Katara's steadfast efforts to honor musical tradition and elevate the oud instrument's status as an integral component of Arab culture. Along with participatory seminars and panel discussions, it offers a plethora of musical events and performances.
This edition, which is held in a festive and artistic setting, brings together music lovers and Oud playing instructors. It will also honor Qatari Oud composer Abdulaziz Haidos and the members of the Katara Music Academy talent award jury panel. The festival will conclude with concerts, where the top three finishers will be crowned.
The festival gives the public a chance to hear live performances by international composers who will exemplify the art ethos of these distinctive musical instruments as representations of musical creativity and depth.
