The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has released a new circular detailing student registration and transfer procedures for government schools for the 2026–2027 academic year. The move aims to simplify processes for parents and ensure schools are fully prepared ahead of the new term.
The first phase will feature an automated transfer system for students moving to the next educational stage. This includes Kindergarten preparatory students, Grade 4 students in model boys’ schools, and those in Grades 6 and 9. Schools will handle these transfers internally during February, with parents set to receive official notifications of their children’s assigned schools from March 29 to 31, 2026.
Meanwhile, new registrations and transfer requests will be submitted online through the “Maaref” Public Services Portal, following a clear timeline. The initial registration phase will commence on April 12, 2026, and will prioritise siblings of Qatari students, children of Qatari mothers, and children of GCC nationals.
