National Museum of Qatar awarded GSAS Platinum Rating for operational sustainability

National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) has been awarded a Platinum rating under the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) Operations certification, reinforcing Qatar Museums’ standing as a global leader in sustainable cultural institutions.

The honour was granted after a comprehensive evaluation by the Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD), marking the first time a museum has achieved Platinum status under the GSAS Operations framework worldwide.

The award was presented at the NMoQ Auditorium on Thursday, coinciding with Qatar Environment Day and reflecting the country’s broader commitment to environmental protection.

This latest achievement recognises the museum’s strong performance in operational sustainability and builds on its earlier GSAS 4-Star design and build certification, received in 2018 prior to its official opening. The milestone further strengthens Qatar Museums’ role in promoting environmentally responsible cultural infrastructure locally and internationally.
