At 5:46am on February 10, 2029, a nationwide public safety alert was sent to mobile phones across the country, warning of reduced visibility caused by fog.
Issued in both Arabic and English, the message advised motorists to take extra care and drive at safe speeds due to fog affecting parts of the country.
The alert coincided with the early hours of Qatar National Sports Day, when residents and visitors typically head outdoors to take part in sporting activities across the country.
Unlike previous instances, it was not immediately clear whether the alert had been issued by the National Command Center or the Ministry of Interior.
