Qatar will host a football tournament for fans during the FIFA World Cup

Qatar will host a special football tournament for fans at this year's FIFA World Cup.

The Fan Cup will be contested by supporters from all 32 competing nations at the FIFA Fan Festival at Al Bidda Park from November 29 to December 2.

Organized by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the five-a-side tournament follows the same format as the FIFA World Cup, with group matches and knockout rounds until a winner is crowned.

SC Communications and Media Executive Director Fatma Al Nuaimi said the fans are central to the success of the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world. We are delighted to host this tournament and we believe it will create an exciting atmosphere as it unites fans from around the world through their shared passion for the beautiful game.

Players must be 18 years of age or older and citizens or residents of the national team they wish to represent. Successful applicants must plan to be in Qatar during the tournament. Flight, accommodation or any other expenses will not be borne by the organizers.

SC works with local grassroots football organizations to support and deliver the Fans Cup, with referees drawn from Qatar's vibrant amateur football community.
