Qatar Meteorology Department Issues January 2026 Climate Update
The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has issued its January 2026 climate forecast as part of its monthly weather bulletin.
As the second month of winter, January is usually the coldest period of the year in Qatar. QMD expects an increased passage of cold fronts, with recurring low-pressure systems that may be accompanied by thunderstorms. Rainfall is anticipated mainly during the second week of the month.
The department also noted that fog is commonly observed in January, particularly in the first half of the month. The average daily temperature for January 2026 is estimated at 17.7°C.
Climate records show that January’s lowest temperature was 3.8°C, recorded in 1964, while the highest reached 32.4°C in 2015.
