Semi-finals for the Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet has started at the Cultural Village

The first episode of the pre-final qualifiers was held for six contestants, three of whom were in the classical poetry category and three in the Nabati poetry category. The semi-finals for the Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet have started at the Cultural Village, Katara and are scheduled to continue until March 17.

Haider Al Abdullah from Saudi Arabia qualified for the classical poetry category, and Jamal Bandar Al Otaibi from Kuwait qualified for the Nabati poetry category.

And in the second episode, qualified for the category of eloquent poetry is Muhammad Al Mughirfi from Kuwait, while under Nabati poetry, Rahim Al Ghanami from Saudi Arabia. In the third episode, Abd al Hamid Hassan Abdullah from Sudan qualified for the classical poetry, and Abdullah bin Nasser Al Subaie from Kuwait qualified for the Nabati poetry category. In the fourth episode, Maher Muhammad Al Khouli from Syria qualified for the classical poetry, and Abdullah Al Sarahid Al Otaibi from Saudi Arabia qualified for the Nabati poetry.

The Katara Prize Arbitration Committee for the Poet of the Messenger includes in its membership six arbitrators, three each for the classical poetry category, and Nabati poetry category.

Members of the Classical Poetry Arbitration Committee are: Prof. Dr. Fawaz Al Laboun, a Saudi poet and academic, Dr. Abdullah Ghlees, a Kuwaiti academic, and Prof. Dr. Bassam Qatous, from Jordan.

The Nabati Poetry Arbitration Committee consists of poets: Shabib bin Arar Al Nuaimi, Wasl Al Atyani, a Saudi poet, and Dr. Mishaal Al Zoubi, a Kuwaiti poet.

The total prize money for Katara Prize for Prophet’s Poet is QR3.8m, in the classical and Nabati poetry categories.
