World Judo Championships - Doha 2023 will take place from May 7-14 at Ali bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Arena

The World Judo Championships - Doha 2023 Local Organising Committee conducted a press conference on Tuesday to give the public an update on the most recent tournament preparations. Ali bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Arena will host the competition, which will include 668 participants from 99 nations, from May 7 to 14.

The committee gave a thorough assessment of its preparations to host the event during the conference. This includes making plans for lodging, travel, security, logistics, the opening ceremony, and advertising.

Vice President of the Local Organizing Committee, Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah, stated his pride in Qatar's hosting of the global event, “The World Judo Championships - Doha 2023 are an occasion to welcome the world's most prominent and talented athletes in one of the world's most popular sports. We thank His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, for his unwavering support and supervision.”

Also, Mr. Eid Ali Al Muraikhi, the Head of the Sports Committee for the championships, emphasized the significance of the competition for Qatari athletes, saying: "Our dedicated team has worked to ensure a successful championship, and we hope that our national team will score the points that enable them to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris."

The press conference came to a close with a summary of the facilities, offerings, and activities made available to the public and media during the competition by the organising committee. This included the ceremonial opening, related activities, a media centre, and workspaces.
