The Department of Agricultural Affairs and Souq Waqif Management, on behalf of the Ministry of Municipality, organized the 10th Local Date Festival, which had record attendance and sales in its first week.
Sales totaled about 79,421 kg between Thursday, July 24, and Tuesday, July 29, and were split as follows: Shishi: 17,139 kg, Khunaizi: 16,645 kg, Barhi: 7,036 kg, Ikhlas: 33,181 kg, and other types: 5,420 kg.
The festival's current edition, which includes 114 local farms, reflects the growth of the local production base and the rising demand for premium Qatari goods.
The event attracted an impressive 36,300 people from the first day to the sixth, demonstrating the community's faith in regional produce and dedication to promoting domestic farming.
In the eastern square of Souq Waqif, the Local Dates Festival will operate everyday from 4 to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays until August 7.
