7th Katara Prize for Quran Recitation; Katara announced 100 participants to have qualified for the final

Under the theme "Adorn the Quran with your voices," and with official support from the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, the 7th Katara Prize for Quran Recitation has 100 qualifiers for the final, according to the Cultural Village Foundation of Katara. Out of 1,315 registrants, 100 contenders from 64 Arab and international nations were chosen by the screening committee to compete in the final qualifiers. Approximately 44 contenders from Arab nations qualified, compared to 56 entrants from non-Arab nations.

After 20 television programmes, the finalists will compete in the seventh session qualifiers. Five contestants compete in each episode, and one of them advances to the semi-final qualifying round, where 20 contestants compete along with five reserve contestants. This process is repeated for five more episodes, with five contestants competing in each, and one qualified participant from each. All episodes air on Qatar TV during the fasting month of Ramadan. One episode advances to the final round, and among the five finalists, the first three Katara Prize for Quran Recitation winners are revealed.

The period from October 1 to December 15 of the previous year was when nominations for the award were accepted.

The Katara Prize for Quran Recitation seeks to recognise outstanding and creative reciters, discover gifted individuals, assist and expose them to the world, inspire the next generation to follow their religion, help them realise their responsibilities to their faith and the Islamic message, and inspire Muslim children to consult the Bible.

The awards given out for the Katara Prize for Reciting the Quran are worth QR900,000. The winners in first place will get QR500,000, in second place, QR300,000, and in third place, QR 100,000.
