Kahramaa has completed the installation of smart electricity meters

The installation of smart energy meters throughout the nation has been finished by Qatar General energy and Water Corporation (Kahramaa), which is a major step in the country's push to digitalize utility services.

100% of electricity meters have already been replaced with smart meters, and 50% of water meter installations under the smart metering project have also been finished, according to Maryam Abdullah Muftah, senior smart meter engineer in the Kahramaa Eng. Customer Services Department.

Muftah emphasized that all metering-related services, including opening or transferring accounts, may now be handled entirely online, negating the need for clients to go to service centers.

Every consumer in Qatar will eventually have access to sophisticated digital meters in place of traditional ones according to the Smart Metres Project, a strategic mega undertaking that consists of more than 12 smaller projects.

Smart water meters are to be fully implemented by the end of 2027, and smart power meters by the end of 2025, according to the ambitious plan.

Modern smart meters like this come with a plethora of functions that improve user experience and operational effectiveness. They facilitate speedier property transfer and invoicing processes, early fault detection at no additional cost, prepaid payment choices, and real-time usage tracking. By providing clients with information about their usage habits, a specialized mobile application encourages improved control of water and energy use.
