Al Wakra park is all set to be opened to the public

Major construction is already finished, and Al Wakra Park will soon be open to the public. The event venue, prayer ground, workout equipment, lake, grilling area, restrooms, and walkways are all set, according to the local Arabic daily Arrayah.

With 70% of its 46,601 square meter area covered by greenery, the park helps to regulate temperature, lowers carbon emissions, and improves climate.

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal), which began building the new park on the site of the old park, which was established in the late 1980s, has disclosed that the project involved removing all facilities and demolishing them in favor of contemporary structures and brand-new play areas, all the while maintaining the plants and trees, particularly the perennial trees.

In response to the population growth, Ashghal is increasing the number of public parks being created.

According to the Ministry of Municipality, Qatar now boasts a much higher number of public parks and green areas.

The ministry disclosed a number of tree-planting programs in Qatar: 1 million tree seedlings were planted between 2019 and 2022, and 320,000 seedlings have been planted thus far as part of the 10 million tree effort (2023–2030).
