The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' announced on August 6, 2023, that they had received three worldwide prizes from the Harvard Business Council (HBC) in the United States. The awards recognise and celebrate Ashghal's outstanding practises in a variety of disciplines.
The three awards won were as follows:
- Gold Award for Customer Care for the year 2022
- Diamond Award for the Supply Chain of the Roads Projects Department for the Local Areas Infrastructure Programme
- Exceptional “Certificate of Excellence” for the year 2022
The "Certificate of Excellence" was presented for recognising further Ashghal practises that were recognised the previous year, when two diamond awards were earned in the 'Green & Environmental Initiatives' and 'Health & Safety' categories, as well as a Gold Award for 'Dealing with COVID-19'.
According to the Harvard Business Council, obtaining the diamond award was due to Ashghal's leadership in the construction sector by assisting Qatar. It was also said that the support for local manufacturers, suppliers, and Qatari goods, as well as the involvement with stakeholders such as consulting firms, contractors, suppliers, employees, and others, resulted in the best standard performance.
The Harvard Business Council's 2023 International Awards, which began on January 16, 2023, were extremely competitive. Among the 13 candidates for the Certificate of Excellence, Ashghal stood out as a standout performer.
