Autumnal equinox will occur in the northern hemisphere and the length of the day and the night in Qatar will be equal

The autumnal equinox will occur tomorrow, September 23, when the sun will be perpendicular to the equator in the northern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere, the situation will be the opposite, with the spring equinox occurring. This information was released by the Qatar Calendar House today, September 22. The length of the day in Qatar on this day will be 12 hours and 7 minutes, while the length of the night will be 11 hours and 53 minutes, according to Dr. Bashir Marzouk, an astronomer at the Qatar Calendar House. He also noted that the sun will rise tomorrow, Saturday, at 5:23 am and set at 5:30 pm.

The event is significant because the autumnal equinox, along with the other four astronomical seasons, serves as a predictor of climatic changes. Additionally, as the sun will rise and set from precisely the same locations over the eastern and western horizons on this day, it is possible to pinpoint with incredible accuracy the directions of east and west at dawn and sunset, respectively.

It is important to note that the Earth's rotation in its orbit around the sun and the Earth's axis' 23.5-degree tilt to the plane of its orbit for the four astronomical seasons—winter, spring, summer, and fall—to occur. Even though day and night on an equinox day are not exactly equal due to the Sun's angular size and atmospheric refraction, they are roughly equal in length everywhere.
