Department of Meteorology warned of expected thundery rains associated with strong wind in the northern places

The Department of Meteorology warned of predicted thundery showers along with high wind in the northern regions in its daily weather report. The weather inshore today to 6:00 pm on Friday will be scattered clouds to partly overcast with scattered rains that may be thundery in northern parts.

The report also warned of strong winds and high seas linked to the possibility of thundery rains at times. Offshore, it will be partly overcast to cloudy with scattered rains that may be thunderous at times.

With thunderous rain, the inshore wind will be northwesterly at 5 to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots.When it rains heavily, the offshore wind speed will be between 12 and 22 knots with gusts up to 30 knots.

When it rains heavily, visibility will drop to three kilometres or less, from four to eight km.

There will be 3 to 5 feet of sea state inshore. There will be rises to 10 feet offshore during thunder showers.
