The Qatari Calendar House (QCH) said on Sunday that people in the Northern Hemisphere, including those in the State of Qatar, are set to witness the Eta Aquarids meteor shower, which will peak on Monday evening and last until Tuesday morning.
This meteor shower is coming from the well-known Halley's Comet. Every May, Earth travels through cometary dust particles as it round the Sun. These particles produce bright flashes in the sky when they collide with the Earth's atmosphere. In general, meteor showers happen when Earth approaches the minuscule dust particles and fragments of comet debris.
This shower will be visible to Qatari citizens without the need for telescopes or other astronomical equipment. People who view at Qatar's southeast horizon from midnight till dawn the next day may see this celestial spectacle with their unaided eyes from Monday night until Tuesday morning.
