Exchange houses across Qatar have announced an increase in fees for international money transfers

Exchange offices in Qatar have announced that they will now charge an additional QR5 for each international money transfer. Remittance fees to Asian nations, such as Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka, were previously only QR15 per transaction; today, they are QR20. 

An official at a local remittance business verified that the higher cost is being charged for online transactions as well as at physical branches. 

Some exchange house officials claim that this increase occurred after it was approved and ratified by local exchange company representatives, ending a roughly 20-year period without an increase.
