Grand Cruise Terminal and the 'ORCHARD' recognized as two of "The Best New Ways to Travel This Year" by Condé Nast Traveler magazine

The Grand Cruise Terminal in Old Doha Port and the 'ORCHARD' in Hamad International Airport have been named two of "The Best New Ways to Travel This Year" by the famous publication Condé Nast Traveller.

Both locations were featured as some of the most significant transit initiatives of the year on the magazine's 27th Hot List.

Condé Nast Traveller highlighted the Grand Cruise Terminal's exceptional capacity to welcome 12,000 guests per day and accommodate two mega-ships concurrently in this category. It also highlighted the excellent amenities and smooth services provided by the terminal, which had an Arabian architectural style. Not to mention an escalator that transports travellers through a fascinating and exciting passageway encircled by the biggest aquarium in the area.

Built to increase cruise tourism, the Grand Cruise Terminal sprawls along the recently refurbished Doha Port. With 273,666 passengers and crew, Doha Port recently set a record for cruise traffic, growing by 166% over the previous season. Additionally, 55 cruise ship calls were made during the 2022–2023 cruise season, an increase of 62% from the previous season, with 6 of those calls being to Qatar.

On the other side, the ORCHARD, the primary feature of the Hamad International Airport's Phase A extension project, also received appreciation for its vast interior green area. A 6,000 square metre indoor tropical garden called THE ORCHARD has 300 trees and 25,000 plants that were gathered from sustainable forests all around the world. A 575 square metre water feature completes the design.

With Phase B scheduled to begin this year, HIA's growth ambitions are just getting started. The airport's capacity rose from 40 million to 58 million passengers as a result of the Phase A extension, which was inaugurated in November.

Last year, before the FIFA World Cup, when football fans from around the world arrived in Qatar utilising all possible modes of transportation, the Grand Cruise Terminal and the ORCHARD were only two of the notable developments showcased.

Condé Nast Traveler's 2023 Hot List featured a number of more places and businesses in Qatar. These include The Ned Doha in "The Best New Hotels in the World: 2023 Hot List" and The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), both of which were named to "The Best New Museums in the World: 2023 Hot List".
