Karwa announced that tapping in and out will be mandatory for metrolink services from October 1

Karwa declared that as of October 1, 2023, tapping in and out will be required for Metrolink services. Commuters can accomplish this using the Karwa Smartcard or the QR code from the Karwa Journey Planner App. It further said that the service will still be provided without charge. 

Before boarding the bus, users of the Karwa Journey Planner App must log in and get an e-ticket. According to Karwa, this QR ticket only has to be downloaded once to be used on all Metrolink trips. Clicking on the metrolink QR ticket will display a golden QR code that must be scanned as one boards and exits the bus on the ticket reader. In the app's 'Card Management' area or from the swipeable home screen, users may access QR Code Ticket.
