Katara unveiled the mural ‘Bayabihe Rose’ by Dominican artist Jerson Jimenez

The mural located at Building 16 was inaugurated by Katara General Manager, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Qatar, H E Georges Bahsa Hazim, the artist Jerson Jimenez, along with other officials.

Prof. Dr. Al Sualiti said the mural comes as part of the Katara project to decorate the buildings of the cultural district with works of art inspired by the cultures and arts of peoples.

The envoy thanked Katara for the cooperation efforts that would confirm the depth of friendship between the two countries and peoples, and he pointed out that the mural symbolises one of the most famous types of flowers, the Bayahibe Rose which is the national flower in the Dominicans.

Meanwhile, the artist Jerson Jimenez expressed his happiness at working on the mural in Katara, where the national flower of the Dominicans was chosen to be a symbol of the depth of the friendship between the two countries.

He explained that he used bright acrylic colours to symbolise the energy of joy, positivity and love.

Jimenez added that the background colour represents the colour of the Qatar desert and the sun, which symbolises the warmth of Qatar, while the blue colour reflects the sea, which symbolises the connection between our two countries, and the flower - Bayahibe Rose represents the Dominicans.
