The Ministry of Interior has issued a renewed warning, stressing that operating a vehicle without a valid driving licence is a grave traffic offence that attracts tough legal consequences.
Through an awareness post on its social media platforms, the ministry highlighted that driving without a licence endangers public safety and is not eligible for settlement. Under Article (94) of the Traffic Law, offenders may be punished with imprisonment ranging from one month to three years, a fine of no less than QR10,000 and up to QR50,000, or one of the two penalties.
The ministry explained that the violation specifically concerns drivers who do not hold a valid Qatari driving licence. At the same time, it noted that motorists who are licensed but do not have their physical card at the time of inspection can have their licence confirmed electronically through the Metrash app during traffic checks or at checkpoints.
