Msheireb Downtown Doha invites families for a cinematic journey under the stars with Baraha Movie Nights

Families are invited to join Msheireb Downtown Doha, the dynamic cultural centre of Qatar, for Baraha Movie Nights, an outdoor film experience.

Every evening at 7 p.m. at the famous Barahat area, the enchanting series—curated in association with the Doha Film Institute (DFI)—offers a beautiful fusion of classic films, themed activities, and delectable meals from nearby restaurants and cafés.

With its varied schedule, the project, which runs from December 19, 2023 to January 6, 2024, has already captured the attention of viewers. A variety of films from Japan, America, and Europe will captivate moviegoers as they wrap up their trip. They may also immerse themselves in the works of local filmmakers and experience the spirit of Qatar National Day through special screenings.

Msheireb, the oldest area in Doha, has a particular meaning for the Baraha Movie Nights. The seeds of film in Qatar were initially planted at this same spot. Absorbing the magic of cinema, the employees of Dukhan Oil Company would display films for the entire neighbourhood onto homemade screens and outdoor areas, allowing them to share the experience with their families. These early get-togethers helped to nurture a passion for films that would later grow into a booming national industry.
