Nursery schools operating in Qatar numbers to 179

The number of nursery schools operating in the country has reached 179, showing success of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s efforts to provide nurseries in all areas and accommodate a growing number of students.

The list of the nurseries with detailed information about their whereabouts was shared by the Ministry on its website, enabling parents to admit their children to the one nearest to them.

The list was published amid a campaign run by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to curb illegal nurseries for the safety of children.

Doha Municipality has the most nursery schools, 62, followed by Al Rayyan Municipality with 58 nurseries, according to the list.

Al Wakrah Municipality has  16 nurseries. The rest are spread across other municipalities. The number varies as per the needs and populations in different area.

The list includes names of nurseries in Arabic and English, with detailed address including municipality, area, street, zone, building and building number, contact number, and email IDs so parents can approach them easily.

The nurseries operating in the country are subjected to supervision and control by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Private Education Affairs Sector, and Nurseries Department, to ensure their compliance with the provisions of the articles of Law No. (1) of 2014 regulating nurseries.

A specialised team from the Nurseries Department, Private Education Affairs Sector, periodically visits nurseries to ensure health, security, and safety standards at the premises.

The team also inspects management and leadership applied in nurseries, educational curricula and materials applied in nurseries and ensures appropriate qualifications of workers and staff in nurseries.

The nursery school page on the website of the Ministry allows the public to communicate with the authorities  for information, guidance, and access the necessary services related to nursery schools.

Among the most prominent sections of the page are licensing, supervision and control of nurseries, list of nurseries, ‘Be Vigilant’ initiative, and ‘Contact Us’ section.

The visitor of the page can view a list of 179 nurseries in Qatar, including a nursery dedicated to receiving children with special needs, and can find out everything related to the required documents and forms related to licensing nurseries.

Dr. Rania Mohamed, Director of the Nurseries Department, explained that the page also contains a section dedicated to the ‘Be Vigilant’ initiative, which aims to eliminate the phenomenon of illegal nurseries, and subject them to legal accountability. The initiative aims to ensure the safety and security of children.
