
Qatar Airways announced that it has placed the largest aircraft order in its history with Boeing [NYSE: BA], its manufacturing partner. The historic purchase, which is the largest widebody and 787 Dreamliner order in the history of the American aerospace corporation, includes up to 210 Boeing widebody jets—160 definite and 50 option—as part of its strategic fleet growth plan.
To power its next-generation Boeing 777-9 and Boeing 787 aircraft, Qatar Airways has also inked a deal with GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE) for more than 400 engines, including 60 GE9X and 260 GEnx engines, along with extra options and spare parts. This is the largest widebody engine purchase in GE Aerospace's history.

The long-range, ultra-efficient widebody aircraft family known as the 130 787 Dreamliners has improved passenger comfort and reduced fuel consumption by 25%.
In comparison to the aircraft it replaces, the world's largest twin-engine aircraft, the 30 777-9, is intended to improve passenger travel while setting new efficiency norms by lowering pollutants and fuel consumption by 25%.
