Qatar officially received the ball for the 2027 FIBA World Cup during a ceremony held specifically for this occasion in Manila

The State of Qatar officially received the ball for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, during a ceremony staged especially for the occasion on the sidelines of the 2023 FIBA World Cup closing ceremony in Manila, the Philippine capital. Haman Niang, President of the International Basketball Federation, received the ball from Manuel Pangilinan, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the 2023 World Cup in the Philippines. Niang in turn gave it to Sheikha Asma Al Thani, Director of the Marketing and Communication Department of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Mohamed Al Maghaiseeb, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation. At its meeting on April 28 in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, the International Basketball Federation declared Qatar the victor in the competition to host the 2027 World Cup.

The International Federation's Central Council made their choice after reviewing the paperwork supplied by the candidate nations. The most popular candidate to host the 2027 edition of the competition, which will take place for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa area, was the State of Qatar.

The International Federation justified its choice by pointing to the State of Qatar's first-rate infrastructure, intense commitment to the growth of sports, and successful history of hosting major sporting events, including the forthcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Additionally, the Qatari file places a high value on legacy initiatives that highlight how the competition helped to advance basketball in the area and throughout the globe. This year's tournament will be the most environmentally friendly in the competition's history thanks to the preparedness of the sporting venues that will host the 2027 Basketball World Cup.

After China hosted the 2019 World Cup, the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia will host the 2023 World Cup, which is presently being held. Qatar will host the World Cup for the third time in a row in Asia.
