Qatar’s landmarks wii be shown in Street View of Google Maps

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has announced a collaboration with Google to share Qatar's landmarks and cultural heritage with the world via Street View in Google Maps. This effort uses modern technologies, such as 360-degree panoramic views, to improve navigation and encourage tourism, thereby supporting Qatar's digital transformation objectives. Street View in Google Maps is a global feature that has over 220 billion photos from more than 100 countries. This collaboration exemplifies Qatar's dedication to smart city development and innovative urban planning.

"Google Street View" is a great resource for Qatar residents, visitors, and enterprises. While Qataris can benefit from better navigation, visitors can digitally explore Qatar's attractions, such as Qatar's museums, Souq Waqif, The Corniche, Al Zubarah Fort, and even feel the thrill of drifting the Inland Sea's sand dunes, before organizing their vacations. For enterprises, particularly those in travel and retail, the platform offers worldwide exposure and interaction possibilities. These initiatives help to strengthen Qatar's standing as a top cultural, tourist, and commercial destination.

CRA collaborated with key Qatari authorities such as the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department of the Ministry of Municipality, Qatar Tourism, and national security agencies, as part of this program.
