An office of the American social media platform, Snap Inc. will be opened in Qatar this year. The Doha office aims to promote the company's technological potential and reach a wider audience.
Hussein Freijeh, general manager and vice president of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region at Snap Inc, commented that the Snapchat social media portal is "very popular" within GCC communities and usage and engagement are at their peak, which led to the move to Qatar headquarters.
In 2022, the Government Communications Office (GCO) and Snap Inc. and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand its operations and presence in the country. Although the firm has a local presence in Qatar, Hussein Freijeh said Snapchat will establish a new office in downtown Msheireb in 2024.
