10th Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding; applications and nominations will begin on March 1

According to Dr. Hanan Al Fayyad, the award's official spokesperson and media advisor, the 10th Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding will accept nominations and submissions starting on March 1 and ending on May 31, 2024.

She also disclosed that, to recognise notable single works, the 10th edition chose to include French as a primary language in addition to English. In 2017, French was also designated as the primary language. Translations of individual works from Arabic into French, French into Arabic, Arabic into English, and English into Arabic are among the categories for this year. Translations into Arabic from four additional languages—Balochi, Tatar, Hungarian, and Yoruba—will be eligible for this year's accomplishment rewards, with a total prize of USD 100,000 awarded to each category. 

The purpose of the award is to recognise and honour translators for their contributions to fostering international friendship and collaboration. It seeks to respect the greatest moral and ethical standards, promote variety, pluralism, and openness, recognise achievement and distinction, and foster innovation.
