AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023; Local Organising Committee launched its volunteer programme and will deploy 6,000 volunteers

The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organising Committee inaugurated its volunteer initiative Monday. 6,000 volunteers will be deployed by organisers to help 20 functional areas like as stadiums, spectator services, accreditation, and media operations. Jassim Al Jassim, CEO of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Local Organising Committee, stated at the launch, held at Lusail Stadium, that one of the great legacies Qatar has gained from organising big athletic events is the development of a strong volunteer culture. Qatar will be hosting the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 from January 12 to February 10, 2024.

A total of 51 matches will be held over nine venues, seven of which were previously utilised for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Volunteers from Qatar will be recruited by the organisers. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Applications are currently being accepted at volunteer.asiancup2023.qa.

Lusail Stadium will house a volunteer recruiting centre. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for in-person group interviews. All successful candidates will be put through training. Some volunteer positions will start on December 1. Over 35,000 volunteers actively participated in the implementation of the 2019 and 2020 FIFA Club World Cups, the FIFA Arab Cup 2021, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, multiple editions of the Amir Cup, the IAAF Athletics 2019 championship, and a variety of other national events.
