Awsaj Academy and Qatar Academy Al Khor are the latest schools to be awarded an Eco-Schools Green Flag

The most recent schools under the Qatar Foundation's Pre-University Education programme to get an Eco-Schools Green Flag are Awsaj Academy and Qatar Academy Al Khor. This programme honours young people who are committed to safeguarding and conserving their local environment.

The award requires schools to commit to a two-year programme that consists of three main components: highlighting the Eco-Schools Themes, which include Biodiversity & Nature, Climate Change, Energy, and Food; completing the Seven Steps Framework, which includes creating an action plan, forming an eco-committee, and conducting a sustainability audit; and, lastly, an assessment for the Green Flag.

The first two Qatar Foundation (QF) schools to get recognition from the scheme are Qatar Academy Doha Primary and Qatar Leadership Academy, which were also previously awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag designation.
