Darb Al Saai will host over 4,500 heritage and cultural activities from November 25 to December 18, 2022.

Darb Al Saai, located in Umm Salal Mohammed, and spread over an area of 150,000 sqm is all set to host over 4,500 heritage and cultural activities from November 25 to December 18, 2022. Minister of Culture H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani made an inspection tour yesterday to the permanent venue of Darb Al Saai, the largest venue for celebrating Qatar National Day (QND). The Minister, who is also Chairman of the Organising Committee for 2022 Qatar National Day Celebrations, was briefed about readiness of Darb Al Saai during the tour. 

The Minister of Culture was accompanied by several local newspapers’ Editors-in-Chief, media professionals, social media influencers and event organisers. He inspected pavilions for the events in Darb Al Saai and was briefed about the progress of work on main facilities, public and logistical services, and the access to the permanent QND venue. Final touches are being given to event’s arena. The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the work, as well as with the efforts by the organising committee and the media committee to prepare the permanent venue to receive citizens, residents, and visitors to the State during the National Day celebrations. He praised the completion of this national achievement, which is a heritage and cultural legacy for the Qatari society and future generations.

The Minister of Culture praised the rich events prepared by the Ministry of Culture as part of the National Day celebrations in Darb Al Saai. He said the events include cultural activities, seminars, poetry evenings and theatrical performances, highlighting Qatari, Arab and Islamic culture and heritage and pride in national identity, in addition to upholding the values of the National Day and promoting loyalty and belonging to this country. The Minister stressed that Qatar would host the most successful FIFA World Cup thanks to “our unity, source of our strength”.

The Minister also valued the various efforts aimed at enhancing the participation of all members of society and visitors to Qatar during QND celebrations, highlighting the history and heritage of Qatar, and keeping pace with the most prominent sporting event in the world, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Speaking to the media persons during the tour, General Supervisor of the National Day Celebrations, Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali said that the preparations of Darb Al Saai are in final stage and the facility will be ready completely within a couple of days.

“We will start receiving visitors from November 25 until Qatar National Day on December 18 at Darb Al Saai, which will host a large number of activities including a number of new activities.” He said the new QND venue will receive all people including citizens, expatriates, and World Cup fans. “Some activities will be related to football and screening World Cup matches enabling fans to follow up matches of their favourite teams at the pavilion of Doha Stadium. The new activities added for this year include Doha Stadium and environmental activities.” 

The new facility is also easily accessible from three main roads, in addition to the Doha Metro via the Green Line “Al Rayyan Al Qadeem station”, which enhances the flow of traffic, in addition to the presence of a parking space that accommodates approximately 3,500 cars and is connected to seven main gates and five service gates to enter. There will also be giant screens to broadcast a number of events for Darb Al Saai visitors. 

Darb Al Saai will also offer the visitors an opportunity to experience a variety of foods and beverages from more than 30 restaurants and cafes, in addition to 80 stores. About 4,500 cultural and heritage activities under more than 191 main events will be held. There will be poetry and musical evenings, in addition to a number of literary, intellectual and artistic seminars, exhibitions, competitions, a number of crafts and folk games, and workshops, all of which are held during 24 days of celebrations.

Darb Al Saai is characterised by a high level of equipment, services and public facilities that provide comfort and safety to visitors.
