From February 1, 2026, foreign vehicles entering Qatar through the Abu Samra border will be able to obtain vehicle insurance electronically before arrival, helping to speed up entry procedures.
The Qatar Unified Insurance Bureau has launched the MSAR electronic system, allowing visitors to complete insurance processes online for short-term coverage (one or two weeks) or long-term policies (one month or more, valid for multiple trips). The app enables users to access insurance documents, make digital payments, receive notifications, and obtain 24/7 technical support.
Under the new system, insurance for short stays of one week to less than one month will no longer be issued at the border, while long-term insurance of one month or more will continue to be available.
An MSAR official said vehicles with valid pre-issued insurance will use a dedicated border lane for faster entry, and users can cancel their insurance and claim a refund if their trip is cancelled.
