Expo 2023 Doha, the six-month exhibition, set to commence on October 2 to recruit thousands of volunteers

The six-month exhibition, Expo 2023 Doha, the country’s and the Middle East’s largest horticulture exposition will take place at Al Bidda Park from October 2 to March 28, 2024. It has already generated a lot of interest and has recently announced to recruit thousands of volunteers for the huge event.

More information regarding volunteer criteria, eligibility, and the recruiting process is now available. The official Expo 2023 Doha website said that the event will require the recruitment of 2,200 volunteers. Volunteers will work at the exhibition on a regular basis throughout the event, performing a variety of tasks.

While both Qatari nationals and residents are eligible to register, the registration procedure has yet to begin, and formal dates will be published soon. By September 1, 2023, applicants must be at least 18 years old. For six months, a person can volunteer seven to eight days per month. They must work at least 45 shifts, with each shift lasting between six and eight hours, depending on the position.

Overseas candidates will be accepted if they are self-funded, can stay in Qatar for six months, and can secure the necessary visa. Expo 2023 will not offer visas, transport, or lodging for international applicants.

While all volunteer duties are unpaid, each participant will get a one-of-a-kind volunteer uniform, admission to volunteer-only events, a certificate of gratitude, and other special privileges. During shifts, public transport (metro), lunches and refreshments will be provided. Even first-time volunteers are invited to apply for volunteer positions.

It is essential to be able to communicate effectively in English in order to give individuals with clear information and directions. Following on-site training, a volunteer will carry out a variety of responsibilities to guarantee the best possible experience for visitors, participants, and media.

While volunteers do not need professional abilities, they may not be assigned to a role that is a good fit for them. "Your biggest assets are a can-do attitude, being a good listener, and the ability to help people patiently and courteously," according to the advertisement on the Expo 2023 Doha website. Volunteers can choose and manage their own shifts, however they will be busiest in the nights and on weekends.

Volunteers may be allocated to a variety of tasks including as accreditation, ceremonies, tickets, events, cultural experience, health and safety, language services, media and broadcasting, participant operations, protocol services, visitor experience, and workforce.
