According to the 2025 Global Peace Index (GPI), Qatar has been named the most peaceful nation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for the seventh consecutive year. According to the Institute for Economics and Peace, Qatar is ranked 27th out of 163 nations worldwide.
The GPI uses 23 variables in three domains—militarization, ongoing conflict, and safety and security—to quantify peace. Qatar is the only MENA country in the top 30 globally, even though the MENA region is the least peaceful in the world due to the conflicts in Yemen, Syria, and Sudan.
Strong government, low crime rates, and less military spending are the main factors contributing to Qatar's high ranking. Additionally, its stability supports Qatar's National Vision 2030, which places a high priority on societal well-being and sustainable growth.
