The General Tax Authority (GTA) announced that the submission period for the 100 percent Financial Penalty Exemption Initiative has been extended until December 31, 2025, in response to the increasing interest in taking advantage of the initiative and in keeping with its mission to assist taxpayers and allow them to regularize their status.
The goal of the extension is to give as many taxpayers as possible the chance to take advantage of the available exemptions.
While continuing to offer support and advisory services that strengthen transparency and contribute in fostering a culture of tax compliance, the GTA said in a statement on Sunday that it permits taxpayers to apply for the program through the Dhareeba platform.
With over 56,000 tax returns filed, including past-due filings for tax years 2014–2024, and over 7,000 people released from financial penalties totaling more than QR 1.6 billion, the project has produced noteworthy outcomes. As a result, the overall tax compliance rate has increased significantly.
Additionally, a large number of businesses and entrepreneurs participated in the effort, allowing them to improve their circumstances and take advantage of the complete exemption from financial penalties. A wide range of important industries were represented among the beneficiary enterprises, demonstrating the initiative's inclusivity and wide-ranging effects in bolstering various facets of the national economy.
The GTA encourages taxpayers to use the Dhareeba platform to benefit from the effort in this regard. The program, which is regarded as one of the Authority's historic initiatives, was created to allow taxpayers to fulfill their tax responsibilities by being completely exempt from financial penalties resulting from late registration, filing, or payment, subject to certain terms and conditions.
