Hamad International Airport (HIA) has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower programme, allowing passengers with non-visible disabilities to discreetly signal that they may need extra time, clearer communication, or additional assistance while travelling through the airport.
Francois Bourienne, Senior Vice President of Commercial, Strategy and Customer Experiences, said the initiative reflects HIA’s commitment to inclusive and accessible travel. He noted that the programme forms part of the airport’s broader accessibility strategy, focused on providing a barrier-free, seamless experience through continued investment in suitable facilities and services.
As a Sunflower-enabled airport, HIA has rolled out the programme across key passenger touchpoints. The sunflower symbol is visible throughout the terminal to support arriving, transiting, and departing passengers with hidden disabilities.
