Qatar ranks sixth globally in ICT Development Index 2026

Qatar has ranked among the world’s most connected countries, scoring 98.4/100 in the ITU’s ICT Development Index 2026, placing sixth among 159 economies.

The country achieved a perfect 100 in Universal Connectivity and 96.7 in Meaningful Connectivity, with the world’s second-highest fixed broadband data usage at nearly 1,000 GB per subscriber per month.

Qatar also has 99% 5G population coverage and 100% fibre coverage, reinforcing its position as a global digital connectivity leader.

The ITU noted that high-income economies are nearing the ceiling for infrastructure-based connectivity indicators, making Qatar’s 98.4 score a strong result.

The ranking reflects Qatar’s focus on investment, innovation and digital development under Qatar National Vision 2030, the Third National Development Strategy and Digital Agenda 2030.

The IDI measures universal and meaningful connectivity across areas including infrastructure, adoption, affordability and data usage.
