Passengers flying from Doha can now use Fast Pass at Hamad International Airport, a facial recognition service launched with Qatar Airways. The optional biometric system lets eligible passengers pass through selected airport checkpoints using facial verification instead of repeatedly showing travel documents.
Fast Pass is currently available to Qatar Airways passengers aged 18 and above on eligible flights departing Doha, provided they hold a valid passport. Registration is optional, and passengers can use the standard process instead. The service is not yet available to passengers with disabilities, but this is planned for the future.
Passengers can register for Fast Pass through the Qatar Airways app or at self-service kiosks near Row 3 at Hamad International Airport. Kiosk registration is required for each trip, while app registration is a one-time process for future eligible flights. Passengers will also receive a Privacy Notice explaining how their personal and biometric data will be handled.
Activated Fast Pass users can access self-service bag drops at Row 3, security gates 9 and 10, and boarding gates across Concourses A to E. Passengers should still carry their passports, as they may be needed for immigration or if biometric verification fails. If facial recognition is unsuccessful, passengers can remove masks or glasses and, if needed, use their boarding pass to follow the standard process.
HIA said its biometric cameras only verify passengers registered for Fast Pass, while data from non-enrolled individuals is immediately deleted. Kiosk registrations use personal and biometric data only for the trip and delete it 24 hours after departure. For app users, data is stored on their device and securely shared with HIA when Fast Pass is activated, with passengers able to delete it through the app settings.
