Introductory exhibition held for new students by QU-Health

QU-Health at Qatar University (QU) welcomes new students by orientation exhibition with the slogan “Your Gateway to Health Professions”. Qatar University (QU) organised the welcome program for 350 male and female students. The aim of the event was to introduce students to colleges, programmes and services it provides, and guide them through their study journey with the start of the new academic year.

QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham, Dr. Asma Al Thani, Vice-President for Health and Medical Sciences, H E Dr. Asaad Ahmed Al Asaad, Commander of Medical Services — the Qatari Armed Forces, deans of colleges of QU-Health and department heads, attended the exhibition.

QU students services participated in the exhibition with different booths while various stakeholders from health sectors in the country like Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation, Aspetar, Sidra Medicine, Qatar Armed Forces (Medical Services Section) and Qatar Airways also took part. They provided information on educational and professional programs in addition to an explanation of the medical and health departments in each institution and the nature of working with them.

Dr. Al Derham stressed on the importance of this exhibition for new students, saying: “This  orientation is an important stage that the student goes through at the beginning of the university studies, because it serves as the basis for which the student will build his university life. In this meeting, students will given information they may need during their studies. I wish all our students every success in their university journey.”

Dr. Asmaa Al Thani, Vice-President for Health and Medical Sciences, said the new students orientation is the first gateway to the students’ educational and practical journey in the field of health care and academic life.

Dr. Alla El Awaisi, Director of Clinical Operations and Engagement in QU-Health, noted that some new students may have preconceived ideas and judgments about the difficulty of studying in health majors and what they must follow to succeed in their study.

“The orientation exhibition guides the students in providing them with the correct information and answering their enquiries which is the main objective of the exhibition.”

El Awaisi noted, “The student is an essential partner in the educational process, and therefore we are very keen to involve our students from senior years as orientation leaders to welcome and help new students and share their experiences.”
