'Lusail Museum: Tales of a Connected World' exhibition closes this month

The exhibition "Lusail Museum: Tales of a Connected World" will end this month with just a few days left.

The show, which is on view at Al Riwaq Gallery through Saturday, April 29, gives visitors a thorough overview of the new museum being constructed in Lusail and conceived by Pritzker Prize–winning architects Herzog & de Meuron.

HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, stated that even though the exhibit is coming to a close, she is looking forward to the "next chapter" when the ideas for the museum are eventually realised.

The Old Souq served as inspiration for the building design of the planned Lusail Museum. It will be located on Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani's Al Maha Island in Lusail, the home of the politician, diplomat, and poet who created Qatar.

'Lusail Museum: Tales of a Connected World' not only features the museum's architecture but also a top-notch collection of Orientalist artwork and artefacts that will be housed in the new museum.

As Qatar continues to invest in world-class museums and in fostering cultural locations, the Lusail Museum is only one of five new cultural venues that will be built there.

A couple of the planned museums are the Qatar Auto Museum, which will be created by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), under the direction of Rem Koolhaas, Samir Bantal, and others, and the Art Mill Museum, which will be renovated by ELEMENTAL under the direction of architect Alejandro Aravena.
