Majority of the construction at the forthcoming Furjan Park in Al Wakra has been completed

The majority of the construction at the forthcoming Furjan Park in Al Wakra has been finished, according to an announcement from Qatar's Supervisory Committee for Beautification of Roads and Public Places. The park, which is 3,284 square metres in size and is located at Al Mishkat Street, has a number of recreational and sporting amenities as well as room for community members to engage in physical activity.

One of three parks being considered for Al Wakra is the one at Al Mishkat Street. To make it a fun destination for the whole family, it will contain seats, pedestrian routes, children's play areas, exercise equipment, and recreational and sporting amenities. Local trees and other plants that can withstand Qatar's environment make up around 70% of the park's vegetation. They should drastically reduce carbon emissions, raise temperatures, and significantly enhance air quality.

As part of its attempts to humanise cities and shift from a car-centric to a pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly culture, the committee has announced the establishment of 15 Furjan parks around Qatar.

The Furjan parks will be constructed and maintained by Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal). Families throughout the nation are anticipated to be inspired by the parks to live healthy lifestyles. The Supervisory Committee announced a strategy plan to construct parks that serve tourists and visitors around the nation in 2021 in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality.

The strategic plan also calls for the establishment of compact parks known as Al Furjan Parks that cater to locals in certain localities. The parks are planned to be near residences and simple for pedestrians or bicycles to access, which encourages locals to frequent them frequently and spend quality time in a safe and healthy setting.

While designing the park, consideration was given to the requirements of neighbourhood residents as well as the elderly and those with special needs.
