The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has introduced a free Arabic-language learning programme through its website and mobile application, giving learners in Qatar and abroad online access to structured courses.
Designed for beginners and intermediate learners, the initiative helps develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. It targets non-Arabic speakers seeking everyday communication, cultural understanding or a foundation for Islamic studies, as well as visitors and professionals needing practical Arabic. Through the Takalam platform, the courses are offered free of charge and can be followed at a self-paced, flexible schedule.
Available on the ministry’s digital platforms, Takalam features a seven-level curriculum, with each level comprising 20 lessons that combine video instruction with interactive exercises to build vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and writing skills. Learners can stream lessons online or download them for offline study, allowing progress at their own pace.

Create a free account on the ministry’s website or via the Takalam application.
Go to the education section and select the Takalam programme.
Activate the account using the link sent to your email or by entering the provided activation code.
Select a starting level based on your Arabic proficiency.
Begin learning by accessing lessons online or downloading them to your device.
Beyond the digital platform, the ministry also offers free, in-person Arabic courses for non-speakers. These include both regular and intensive programmes, with schedules announced on the ministry’s official website and social media platforms.
The initiative is part of Qatar’s wider efforts to promote the Arabic language and foster cultural understanding, in line with the country’s diverse population and its commitment to inclusive and accessible education.
