The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced a new unified schedule for schools as distance learning continues across the country. The updated timings will apply from Sunday, March 8, to Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The move follows the earlier decision to shift kindergartens, schools, and universities to remote learning, with the Ministry confirming the hours for live online classes to maintain academic continuity.
Government school timings:
Primary stage: 10:00 AM – 12:35 PM
Preparatory and secondary stages: 10:30 AM – 1:15 PM
Private schools and kindergartens can adjust their own schedules, but they must still meet the required number of academic hours set for this period.
Live lessons will be held on schools’ approved digital platforms, and students must follow their school’s timetable. Parents should check SMS and official portals for updates.
The Ministry will continue monitoring the situation and share updates on the return to in-person classes.
