Ministry of Interior has warned motorists against running a red light

A number of social media advertisements have been launched by the Ministry of Interior cautioning drivers not to run red lights.  It posted a brief clip of a driver running a red light and warned that doing so might result in fines and vehicle repossession.

It emphasised, even more, how important it is to abide by traffic regulations and encourage everyone to utilise the roads safely. The Ministry alerted drivers to the possibility of a punishment of up to QR6,000 and the seizure of their car for running a red light.

The Ministry has been emphasising the value of safety and the necessity for all users of the road to follow traffic laws. It was recently advised against the habit of leaving a car running, even for a little period of time, in a different social media post.

"Leaving the car engine running and getting off for any reason, even if only for a short time, is against traffic regulations and may pose risks of theft or road accidents," said the ministry.
