Residents and citizens have been cautioned by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) to be on the lookout for fraudulent attempts to obtain private and sensitive information.
The ministry emphasized in a statement on X that it never, ever asks for private information such passwords or one-time passcodes (OTP).
The caution comes after reports of scam mails that attempt to fool people into disclosing personal information that could be used for illegal access or theft.
In addition to stressing the significance of protecting personal information to avoid abuse, the MoCI advised the public to be wary of dubious calls, messages, or emails asking for verification information.
People are urged to report any suspicious practices or contacts right away by calling the ministry's hotline center at 16001.
