MOI organized an introductory seminar on regulating the traffic of trucks and buses within Doha

In order to create traffic safety policies and lessen congestion during peak hours, the General Directorate of Traffic, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior's (MOI) Public Relations Department, arranged an introductory seminar on truck and bus traffic regulation in Doha. This seminar was put into effect at the beginning of November.

A large number of safety and transport officials from public and private institutions and schools attended the seminar, including Captain Zamil Al Shammari, head of the traffic safety department's professions permits and licencing department, and Captain Saoud Abdullah Al Hamad, head of the department of traffic engineering and safety.

According to Captain Eng. Saoud Abdullah Al Hamad, the proposal is intended to regulate the movement of trucks and buses during peak hours, with a focus on all vehicles and buses carrying more than 25 people. He clarified that the design forbade heavy trucks and buses from travelling on 22 February Street at any time.

In addition, he emphasised the need for a traffic permit to enter the areas under the traffic ban at the designated times. These areas include the internal scope of the following roads: Al Furousiya Street, G-Ring Road, East Industrial Area Street, Ras Abu Abboud Street, and so on. He also mentioned that ANPR security camera systems are used to monitor violating vehicles

If a truck driving without a permit is found to have occurred, the fine to be paid is QR 500. He clarified that permits must always be requested to enter the area subject to traffic regulation and that the application process for permits for trucks and buses can be completed through the Ministry of Interior website or the Metrash2 application. He also mentioned that the process of granting permits is determined by the need and the times of the three declared peaks.
